Title: Circuit Historique de Laon Post by: peteracs on December 06, 2024, 01:47:44 PM Hi
Just seen the listing in LMC VL magazine for this and wondered if anyone fancied either meeting there or going as a group? Not a massive hike from Calais, so quite doable for a long weekend. Look out for an advert for this and other tours in next month's VL maybe doing some to exercise your Beta Title: Re: Circuit Historique de Laon Post by: Nigel on December 06, 2024, 08:03:35 PM Hi Peter,
As said already, I'm in! It's a 2.5 hour drive from Calais on the A26, or 4+ hours if you choose the back roads. I've been looking for hotel options in Laon but haven't come up with anything yet. Nigel Title: Re: Circuit Historique de Laon Post by: betabuoy on December 07, 2024, 12:51:50 PM Yes please Peter.
Sounds like a workable outline to stretch our Betas and find new roads. I’m in. Nigel There appears to be a travel company who organises the travel etc. I will get in touch and see what options we have etc. Peter Title: Re: Circuit Historique de Laon Post by: betabuoy on December 07, 2024, 05:11:34 PM If that gets a bit restrictive Peter, we can always self book crossings (Tesco vouchers still help) and share an AirBnB? For those dates, there are plenty of 4-12 bedroom houses available depending on interest.
Title: Re: Circuit Historique de Laon Post by: peteracs on December 07, 2024, 09:00:36 PM Hi Chris
That does sound like a good option. Will get back on Monday after I speak with the company. Peter Title: Re: Circuit Historique de Laon Post by: Nigel on December 07, 2024, 11:04:27 PM I like Chris's idea of the AirBnB, although a hotel would give us lots of meals and drinks.
Going through a travel company could restrict our options to be flexible. It could also increase costs unnecessarily. It looks to be a fairly simple registration process. I've easily printed the application form, there's not much else to do except channel crossing and digs. Seems like there's at least 4 interested so far, and I'm sure a few more will play. Ok, life got in the way, but anyway looks like the official tour company is hotel only with a fair hike for single folk, so DIY looks to be the most sensible and Airbnb again looks promising. I checked out the ferries and Eurotunnel. Euro tunnel are twice the ferry price, DFDS looks to be the cheapest at around £99 return. Looking at Airbnb various ones on offer, depends how many bedrooms we need. Peter Title: Re: Circuit Historique de Laon Post by: betabuoy on December 19, 2024, 06:55:28 PM Hi Peter,
I might be wrong, but I think the £99.00 option is for a car plus one adult one way? Looked to me like the return woulds add another £110.00. Chris Title: Re: Circuit Historique de Laon Post by: peteracs on December 19, 2024, 09:02:48 PM Hi Chris
No, it is a special short break rate, total £99. This was my search. https://book.ferrysavers.co.uk/QuoteFlexi?sid=1c49b73a4eeaa474588a6592b6d768885 Peter Title: Re: Circuit Historique de Laon Post by: peteracs on December 19, 2024, 10:37:22 PM Hi
