You should use an H section to protect your head gasket when the heater is turned off. Lack of flow at number 4 sold a lot of head gasket replacements and FL added this flow mod on IE and VX. It has been covered on here many times.

Title: Re: Heater outlet on Cylinder Head Post by: squiglyzigly on July 06, 2024, 09:51:09 AM It is screwed in. But it’s difficult to remove without damaging, as you’re looking to remove an already damaged pipe you can try welding a nut onto it and unscrew.
Cheers Ian Title: Re: Heater outlet on Cylinder Head Post by: peteracs on July 06, 2024, 02:26:03 PM As the pipe is steel and the head aluminium, I would guess that corrosion between the two has set in and unscrewing would most likely damage the softer material ie head which is not what you are looking for.
