Title: Question on later front subframes
Post by: peteracs on June 10, 2024, 05:05:23 PM
Hi

I have a query about the fittings of the subframe. I know the early cars had different mountings from the later ones at the rear of the subframe, but my query relates to the way it fixes. I did not take off the subframe from the Coupe I stripped for the HPE so unsure how it was fixed. On the early cars the rear subframe fixing comprises of both a bolt into the lower part of the bulkhead and a pin which locates into a hole in the bulkhead. On the later subframe there is no pin on the one I have but has a threaded hole to maybe accept one and there is also a hole corresponding to this threaded hole in the bulkhead as well as the normal bolt hole.

Can anyone confirm if the later subframe should have a locating pin?

Photo shows an early subframe with the pin and the later subframe without followed by the lower bulkhead on the IE Coupe front end.

Hi

Had a quick comment from Mark that he had seen ones with and without the pins on later subframes, but any other comments would be appreciated.

My thought is to try adding a pair of them.
