Personally, if staying with a stock setup, I would go the lower cost route, not sure the high torque would get you much of a benefit for the extra money. There is a slight benefit with the uprated unit as it manages to use less current draw than the standard unit while spinning the engine over faster (due to the reduction gear). It might be advantageous in a situation where the battery is marginal on cranking power, but if that is the case then it's clearly an issue that needs fixing anyway. The uprated unit is also about half the weight of a standard starter motor and is more compact, but in the grand scheme of things that is immaterial.
Be aware that the quality of remanufactured and refurbished starter motors can be variable. If you're getting one from Mark it should be fine. The motivation was being it would be more reliable and I'll never need to replace it. There is a weight saving but in the big scheme of things.....

OE Refurbishment quality can be very poor as stated. Also remember a simple relay can protect your fragile ignition switch (they all are) and improve starting as well.

As you can see my OE has been refurbished, but it still fails to kick into life once warm. Problem gone with replacement |
