Title: Repair of under-dash flimsy plastics Post by: Nigel on September 21, 2020, 06:16:11 PM Thought i'd share this.
I had 2 annoying cracks in the drivers side under-dash plastic. I found that regular solvent cement typically used to 'weld' plumbing waste systems is compatible. So I found some equally matching bits of plastic [in my case,Altro White Rock, used to line the walls of commercial kitchens] and stuck it all together with liberal amounts of cement. The stuff I had is 4mm thick, thinner bits would probably also work fine. It needs an overnight to cure fully, and then a small clean-up with a dremel. The end result is purely functional,it's invisible, and not necessarily pretty! A few light coats of matt spray paint ends the fix. |
