Title: Tool for sliding out gearbox in situ Post by: Per on March 12, 2019, 07:16:52 PM All, does anybody have the measurements for the factory tool? I need to replace the clutch so the tool / jig will make it less fiddly. Btw I have bought back my silver HPE.

I can't check it now but if I have time I might get it out at the weekend however I am very busy with other things so no promises!

In my opinion I'm not convinced it's worth the effort Title: Re: Tool for sliding out gearbox in situ Post by: Per on March 14, 2019, 08:01:20 AM Having battled with the gearbox for clutch replacement in a sedan back in the day I'd say a bit of simple fabrication will save a lot of swearing, bruised knuckles and extended high blood pressure ;)
I will not need it before late March at the earliest. the car is currently hibernating in a salt free environment. As I have welding and machining equipment available it will be fairly straight forward to fabricate. Title: Re: Tool for sliding out gearbox in situ Post by: rossocorsa on March 18, 2019, 11:11:13 PM My apologies I haven't forgotten but got preoccupied at the weekend with other stuff, I'll try to remember to get the tool out soon!

You can probably see why I said above it would be difficult to fabricate, there are two pieces as one holds the engine whilst the other holds the box, I suspect it's only really useful if you have a lift or pit and a suitable gearbox lift. |
