Title: Cambelt Post by: Spyderfan on February 25, 2017, 08:47:05 PM My old cambelt just removed has 148 teeth but new one has 144 . they both look exactly the same size though ?
Also the new belt is very baggy once slipped on . tensioner will nowhere near get it taught ? Title: Re: Cambelt Post by: Neil-yaj396 on February 26, 2017, 09:35:38 AM Sounds like it must be the wrong belt. What size engine do you have?
Title: Re: Cambelt Post by: rossocorsa on February 26, 2017, 10:25:03 AM From memory should be 148 on 2 litre
Title: Re: Cambelt Post by: lukasdeopalenica on February 26, 2017, 11:16:01 AM That is correct - 148 for 2 litre
Title: Re: Cambelt Post by: Spyderfan on February 26, 2017, 10:23:40 PM 1600 as far as I know , although did find 2000 stamped on a engine strut?
Is registered as a 1600 No idea why belts seem to be same size but different teeth. Need to find what the correct belt should be Title: Re: Cambelt Post by: peteracs on February 27, 2017, 08:28:44 AM First things first, you need to establish if 1600 or 2000.
The engine type is stamped just above the Oil filter housing on a flat piece of the block. It will say something like 828.B for 1600 or 828.B1 for a 2000. Can be hard to reach and read. The belt types are different as block higher. The 1600 one should have 144 teeth, the 2000 one 148 teeth and will be longer. Both use the same tensioner bearing IIRC. Peter Title: Re: Cambelt Post by: WestonE on February 27, 2017, 08:35:34 AM Please replace the tensioner at the same time because a seizure will destroy the engine.

Peter Many thanks for info , I'll look for the engine number and hopefully then work out if belt I've bought is wrong or not . Eric Hi yes I'll definitely take this step . A small price to pay to prevent failure Title: Re: Cambelt Post by: rossocorsa on February 27, 2017, 09:44:37 PM First things first, you need to establish if 1600 or 2000. Tensioner on 2 litre has a larger outer casing (71mm as opposed to 67mm if I recall correctly), the inner bearing is that same on both and can be removed and replaced. This is unless the tensioner has been replaced by some after market units for 1600 that are in one piece. Be aware also that the FWD Beta tensioner is different from those on Fiats. The engine type is stamped just above the Oil filter housing on a flat piece of the block. Do you know what is the difference between them as the general layout of the engines are the same? I used to have in the past a 131 supermirafiori 2000TC, but do not remember the details, however the tensioning elements looked very similar. Title: Re: Cambelt Post by: rossocorsa on February 28, 2017, 12:21:34 AM Beta 1600 (this is aftermarket version made in single piece, the original Lancia part from factory the bearing can be removed/replaced)

Title: Re: Cambelt Post by: Spyderfan on March 04, 2017, 02:11:48 PM Have found the number 80208659 stamped above the oil filter ?..
Title: Re: Cambelt Post by: peteracs on March 04, 2017, 03:22:20 PM Have found the number 80208659 stamped above the oil filter ?.. If this is on the machined flat piece just above the oil filter housing, then it should be in two parts First part of the number is on the first line and for a Beta will start 828 The second part on second line will be the serial number It is often hard to read, especially in situ Peter Title: Re: Cambelt Post by: Spyderfan on March 11, 2017, 03:49:55 PM OK I've found the engine number :
828 BB 1 A 0 So its actually a 2.0 litre ? This would explain the belt problem .. |
