Title: Looking for help
Post by: David Scotland on April 16, 2016, 08:52:06 PM
I have a Beta Coupe VX,
I closed the boot last week all OK no nasty crunch.
I went to open it today the button pushes in but has no bite no pressure
Locking key does nothing. Can anyone tell me how to strip / access the boot
Cheers
David

David

You can remove the rear seats by removing the lower screw and tugging aggressively to pull the seat backs out, then you have boot access. You will have to straighten the retaining bars afterwards. This does not work on a Beta Spyder which has a solid panel behind the rear seats.

I hope someone gives you a nicer option.

Will the spare wheel not get in the way?

I had exactly the same thing, gently pushing the back panel in while pulling forward on some straps (old cycle rack straps actually) fitted around the back edge of the boot lid, with the key in the lock, did the trick.

(The recess that the latch clicks into faces you as you're stood behind the car)

A good greasing and a few good old Shropshire agricultural-style slams of the boot lid and it's never done it since.

Thank you all.
If the weather is good tomorrow in Glasgow? I will get it out the lock up and have a go.
Thanks
