Title: Beta from Italy?
Post by: Nigel on November 28, 2015, 10:52:53 PM
I've been looking at Subito.it   and i'm finding numerous Coupes and HPE's that. on first glance
appear to be worthy of acquiring.
There's several early 1800's/1600's of various types, also later models going for a grand.
Has anyone got experience of importing such like, and is the climate kinder
to our beloved? I don't consider LHD to be a disadvantage as conversion is not seriously
difficult if I even bothered to do it in the first place.
A Series 1 1600/1800 with yellow interior would be such a prize especially if it's relatively
rust-free!

Regards, Nigel

I don't have any experience of importing from Italy but the idea is good, the Italians do not seem to consider the beta a classic yet but more of an old banger still on the edge of stardom

Hi

No personal experience, but various folk in the LMC have imported Fulvias and the like. There is a procedure either to drive it to UK or have it transported.

If you are in the LMC I can send links to the forum threads, if not then PM me and will get the info.

Thanks for those replies.

Further research indicates a relatively easy transition to UK registration as long as the
Italian registration doc is present. There hasn't been any suggestion that an 'export' process
is required in Italy. [C&E would like some VAT paid]
The target vehicle would either be driven or trailered by me.

I'm not an LMC member as yet, nevertheless i'd appreciated any info that would assist
along my ideas route.

Nigel, you don't have to be an LMC member to join the forum, it's just certain areas like member's details that are members only. There has been a lot of discussion lately on the procedural complications of getting a classic car out of Italy so the recommended link should be well worth following up.

Thanks Peter and Frank.

I now understand the process for exporting. Hopefully, if it happens, it'll
be easier for a Beta than a Thesis due to age and UK type approval
already in place.

You can read but not post (I think), sometimes I get a bit frustrated when I can't answer a query I see on there

The Guest status is not a logged in one, there is no Guest login and you cannot post without being logged in.......

As correctly mentioned some of the forum is viewable as guest, some is logged in members only.
