Title: BetaMeeta 14 - September 27 or 28 Post by: Hawk on August 21, 2014, 10:54:53 AM OK then - let's try and get this off the ground.
The weekend of 27th & 28th September has been proposed along with a venue http://www.thewatermanpub.auburnclient.co.uk/ (http://www.thewatermanpub.auburnclient.co.uk/) The Sunday is LMC AGM at Gaydon (15 miles away) which may limit numbers but let's see who can make. if anyone wants to make a weekend of it, let me know as there are many places to stay locally (Warwick, Stratford or Leamington are nice and the Cotswolds is in striking distance) If we get enough people up, we can then talk about timings and a drive out? Title: Re: BetaMeeta 14 - September 27 or 28 Post by: Thotos on August 21, 2014, 02:07:02 PM OK then - let's try and get this off the ground. The weekend of 27th & 28th September has been proposed along with a venue http://www.thewatermanpub.auburnclient.co.uk/ (http://www.thewatermanpub.auburnclient.co.uk/) The Saturday is LMC AGM at Gaydon (15 miles away) which may limit numbers but let's see who can make. if anyone wants to make a weekend of it, let me know as there are many places to stay locally (Warwick, Stratford or Leamington are nice and the Cotswolds is in striking distance) If we get enough people up, we can then talk about timings and a drive out? LMC AGM is on Sunday 28th. So why not try and make a weekend of it! Friday 26th: Meet at hotel on evening of Friday 26th for those who can make it. Dinner at a local Italian restaurant or at the hotel. Saturday 27th: Others arrive in hotel car park in the late morning. Scenic drive to lunch venue (pub). After lunch, scenic drive back to hotel for those staying Saturday night. Dinner Saturday night preferably in the hotel. Sunday 28th: Check out of hotel and scenic drive to Gaydon. LMC Committee members go to meeting room others look around Gaydon or just socialise in car park and kick Beta tyres. Hey presto, Betameeta14 ;D We just need to find a suitable nearby hotel with availability ;) Title: BetaMeeta 14 - September 27 or 28 Post by: Hawk on August 21, 2014, 03:38:46 PM Sounds like the makings of a plan and that the Saturday is looking good.
I wouldn't be able to do the Friday night but a meet on Saturday works (as does a mooch around the car museum on the Sunday Hotel locations depend on how far people want to drive but there are plenty of options (Statford upon Avon being almost equidistant from the waterman pub and gaydon Title: Re: BetaMeeta 14 - September 27 or 28 Post by: smithymc on August 21, 2014, 06:05:04 PM Great stuff- it's coming together.
I'm about 90 minutes away and will slot in for the Saturday. Mark Title: Re: BetaMeeta 14 - September 27 or 28 Post by: Thotos on August 21, 2014, 07:46:13 PM I better get the Trevi's exhaust fixed and get it MOT tested :D
Title: Re: BetaMeeta 14 - September 27 or 28 Post by: rossocorsa on August 22, 2014, 07:20:30 AM Might manage the Saturday but wouldn't be able to do the weekend, as a non member no particular interest in the LMC stuff on Sunday. No beta on the road of course would have to come in the chrysler ::)

No beta on the road of course would have to come in the chrysler ::) I think the 'LMC Stuff' only applies to Theo and myself. Really it's a visit to Gaydon that is being proposed for Sunday. Last time I was there there was an Opel Manta meet. The cars were parked on the grass in front of the Museum rather than in the car park individually. If we go ahead I'll try to contact the Museum and arrange this for us. Title: Re: BetaMeeta 14 - September 27 or 28 Post by: James on August 23, 2014, 11:43:44 PM Sadly we will not be able to make these dates, nor any other dates this side of Xmas, due to work commitments. I'm not going to be able to do the weekend (Sat is OK and I may have a couple of hours to pop to Gaydon on Sunday) and given the limited interest for a whole weekend and significant time constraints, I'm going to propose a Saturday only meet and leave that anyone planning to come for this and LMC organise their own timings. I'm more than happy to coordinate timings for Sunday and offer guidance on hotels but I'm sorry to say that I don;t have the time to devote to organisng this properly. Unless anyone objects / has a better idea, I'm thinking something along the lines of: 11:30am to 1pm - meet at pub for general chat / meet up / lunch for those that want it 1:30pm - leave pub for a drive out. I'm thinking a loop from the pub to stratford upon avon to evesham (ish) and then winding through the Cotswolds (via Chipping Campden) Shipston, Banbury, Gaydon and then back to pub / hotel? Those wanting to leave on route can pick up the M5 (Evesham) or M40 (Banbury). I'm sure there is a tea room / pub on the way we can invade. Need to get of my arse now and find some time to get my wheel bearing changed Title: Re: BetaMeeta 14 - September 27 or 28 Post by: Thotos on August 26, 2014, 04:39:39 PM I will apologise now for the state of my car ... It runs, but it's not pretty ;) There are those who claim that "no Trevi is pretty"! In fact when I told the guy who restored the Trevi "I don't wan't a full restoration, I just want to make it look pretty" he said to me "there's nothing I can do to make a Trevi pretty" ;D ;D But I think it's pretty and that's what counts to me... Saturday only Betameeta14 sounds OK to me too although I'll probably stay somewhere local for going to Gaydon on Sunday; it'll probably cost less than the fuel to drive home in the Trevi and back to Gaydon the next morning :-\ ;D (https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xpa1/t1.0-9/10383908_583366001782551_8262997317529812317_n.jpg) Title: Re: BetaMeeta 14 - September 27 or 28 Post by: HFStuart on August 26, 2014, 08:14:28 PM Always plenty of Premier Inns about :)

5 mins from Warwick 5 mins from Waterman pub 15 mins to Gaydon Title: Re: BetaMeeta 14 - September 27 or 28 Post by: DARREN BETA. SPYDER on September 02, 2014, 07:10:42 PM beta mot time tomorrow, if all goes well would like to make this meet.

And it now seems that the LMC Committee meeting will not be at Gaydon but at the Stratford Manor Hotel (Stratford-upon-Avon, CV37 0PY) which is the proposed venue for next year's LMC AGM. It seems as I've volunteered to organise next year's LMC AGM and it was my suggestion to hold the Committee meetings at the venue so I'll need to be there on the Sunday. But I'll still be at wherever Betameeta will be on the Saturday 27th even if I can't promise I'll be in the Trevi :-[ I haven't fixed the exhaust yet (hopefully doing that today) so might have to be the Gamma (or 131 or Alfa.... ). My rebuilt (for the second time) coupe is up for the 180 miles each way from North Yorkshire but for me - at best - it'll be a day trip with a lunch stop on Saturday only. Title: Re: BetaMeeta 14 - September 27 or 28 Post by: smithymc on September 27, 2014, 07:41:58 PM Thanks for a great get together.
Only fly in ointment was that I broke down on the way back! Once the heat had dissipated from the Broadway crawling, she ran fine again- for about 25 minutes, when I was struck by fuel starvation. It looks like more grot has found its way from the tank and past the inline filters into the jets. Managed to limp it home avoiding motorways with a few stops, so i can have a proper look and get the taste of patrol washed away with glass of wine! Darren - you are not alone! That was a great day out and thanks for making me feel so welcome. I got home just after 7pm. Having left at 8am, that was an 11 hour road trip notching up another 437 miles on the mighty Coupe with a clear run home! regards to all. Chris Title: Re: BetaMeeta 14 - September 27 or 28 Post by: HFStuart on September 27, 2014, 09:06:09 PM You did miss out on a pretty decent cream tea though Chris....
A good day out that was. Considering the touring route and destination were very impromptu it worked out pretty well. I even got to test the headlights out on the way home. Verdict is quite bright, lots of light but not much of it where I need it!. Title: Re: BetaMeeta 14 - September 27 or 28 Post by: rossocorsa on September 27, 2014, 09:41:44 PM Great meeting you can't get a much better combination than good food good natter and good cars, I must try to get the VX on the road for next year.

Title: Re: BetaMeeta 14 - September 27 or 28 Post by: smithymc on September 28, 2014, 08:35:14 PM Lucky to get back at all by the look of the fuel filter- Operating the pump produces the same sandy brown mess. Cleared jets , again, but float chamber sure to be a mess too.
Looks like it's a tank off job and a premature end to the season with only a few days left. Any one tried the POR 15 tank lining stuff? Title: Re: BetaMeeta 14 - September 27 or 28 Post by: Neil-yaj396 on September 29, 2014, 07:27:37 AM I had a great weekend, thanks to all. Another almost overheat yesterday in heavy traffic (M1 closed/roadworks x2) so must add the fan thermostat to my winter 'to do' list. I did finally get my box of bits from FNC's former owner after diverting through Derbyshire to avoid the M1 mess, but only after getting totally lost in Sheffield.
Great photos Theo, no doubt another excellent batch on it's way from Tony! Title: Re: BetaMeeta 14 - September 27 or 28 Post by: gengis on September 29, 2014, 09:30:08 PM Great stuff guy's...It was my intention to make the trip down, but not having a shakedown run in the Coupe after my thermostat re-jig and a suprious intermittent flatspot put me off.
Having said that the Coupe has run flawlessly all weekend...I will make the next one. Great photo's Theo. Title: Re: BetaMeeta 14 - September 27 or 28 Post by: TonyLanciaBeta on October 04, 2014, 09:42:39 PM Great day ;D and good to put more faces to names

Sorry to have missed it, just dont log into the forum often enough hey ho! Looks like you had a good time though, some interesting colours, they do look nice in green and that brown one, amarone do they call it, looks great with the green interior, only the italians! Will definitely around for 2015, all the S1 1800 coupe's teething problems are now sorted too. Regards Nigel Knight |
