Title: Cambelt Replacement Post by: simplydelboy on July 22, 2014, 10:51:52 PM Hi All
I've had my Beta Spyder now for 5 years, during which time sadly it has done only about 3000 miles. The cambelt had been changed at the time I bought it. Should it now be replaced. I understand the recommendation is 36000 miles or 3 years, so I guess I should do it despite the lack of miles? Perhaps you experts out there could guide me, Many thanks Del Title: Re: Cambelt Replacement Post by: rossocorsa on July 22, 2014, 11:14:40 PM Easy job and belts aren't expensive also a chance to check the tensioner bearing which is often bad but rarely changed however if it seizes.......

If you regularly start the engine and exercise the belt then I would expect that with your mileage it should be good for at least a couple of years more if you wanted. If it is stood for long periods, then I would probably change sooner.
As mentioned if you are unsure of the tensioner bearing, I would take the opportunity to check and replace if in doubt. As Peter says, long periods of disuse also affect them and encourage splits.
Title: Re: Cambelt Replacement Post by: simplydelboy on July 23, 2014, 08:05:58 PM Thanks gentlemen. I've had a recce and there is a bit of oil deposit so with some pre-mot work to be done, I'll add it to the list,
