Title: 86 Beta Cvt on ebay UK (not a Zagato) Post by: B Smith on February 12, 2009, 01:24:10 AM Can you guys educate me as to if this car is a legitimate Beta Convertible? There is a dark blue 1986 Beta on Ebay UK under 260356720788 w/ about a day and a half left on bidding and showing as being in Ramsey UK. The narrative advises it is one of 12 imported into the UK in 1986 and has rh drive. I have never heard mention of a full-on Beta convertible as compared to a Zagato in discussions or books. The quarter panels look to be the same as a Beta coupe.

It is definately is a converted Coupe, the boot and rear light clusters give it away . Registered in 1986, since production stopped in 1984 I guess it could have sat around unregistered or spent some time being converted. But the front grille etc is that of a late car in the production run. Maybe it was a specialist coachbuilder like Zagato, Felber or similar. Like the Mizar or the Medusa. Just playing devils advocate....Why make a special Coupe Convertible when you could just go buy the Beta Spyder? For those two extra "seats" in the back??? I know Lancia used to do this kind of thing though, Gianni Agnelli had two Delta Evoluzione II cars made into 2 door convertibles for his wife and daughter. Would be intersting to see the car in the flesh and find out more of its history - like who did the conversion. On a similar theme, I once saw a Ferrari 308 GT4 turned into a convertible but I personally would have just gone and bought a car that was designed to be a soft-top from the start! That car needs a fair bit of TLC :D Title: Re: 86 Beta Cvt on ebay UK (not a Zagato) Post by: HFStuart on February 12, 2009, 09:45:24 PM It's also not the first time it's been up on Ebay. Around a year or so ago was when I last saw it.
