Title: Door Cards
Post by: alcarr on March 30, 2014, 11:36:39 PM
The Spyder is running well except today I misread the fuel gauge and when it was at the beginning of the red section on the fuel gauge it really did mean that it was empty. :-[ The door cards at some stage have had a coat of black spray over them thus covering up the tan matching the seats. I just wondered if anyone had an idea for removal other than paint stripper, brake fluid was one thought I had,
Any pointers would be gratefully appreciated

Alan

Hi Alan,
I would try 2K paint thinners. Put some on a rag and try a corner. Should take it off without damaging the vinyl. Normal (cellulose) thinners will also do it. I use both for that job and find the 2K thinner works better with removing vinyl paints.
Paint stripper is extremely aggressive stuff and I wouldn't use it on vinyl. Brake fluid I can't comment on.

Andrew.

It might be worth giving brake cleaner a try too.
