Title: Refurbishing of axle stubs Post by: lukasdeopalenica on January 07, 2014, 03:44:48 PM What method should be the best to refurbish the stubs? After blasting I am thinking about two options - powder coating (additional thickness - what with fitting of bearing on the axle?) or galvanic plating. Some of you has its own experience, so any tips are welcome :)

Two round pieces of steel that were just wider than the bearing, a length of threaded bar, four nuts & washers. I drilled a hole through the centre of the two round steel covers and then assembled the threaded bar/nuts so that the powder coat could be sprayed/baked on without affecting the inner face where the bearing slides in. I dismantled the hub and the bearing.
