As I understand it Lancia will only be Chrysler with a badge stuck on no more development of lancias

Italian press is full of it, don't have the links but, Italian Lancia
Enthusiasts are incensed, lots of posts regarding Marchionne
killing off Lancia in favour of Alfa New models, masser and a
couple of fiats.

This is my understanding of it too. Fiat are also moving a lot of production out of Italy. To be honest though this has been coming ever since Fiat bought Alfa, a brand that was never compatable with Lancia under the same roof.

Sad but inevitable in the current world car market?

Agreed, I think its a simple commercial decision given the economic climate and over-production in the global car market.

maybe but devaluing a strong brand with unmatched heritage by sticking the badge on Chryslers makes no sense better to stop using the Lancia brand than that, no one is fooled the Italians are up in arms about it, it is a disaster just as badging RHD versions of the last Lancias as chryslers over here has proven a failure too

Latest on the LMC Forum is that this is the end. A Swiss Lancia dealer recons that the name will be fully withdrawn when Delta production is wound up. The Yipsilon will continue then under another name (Chrysler?)

maybe they'll revert to Autobianchi, a well respected brand in Italy and the Ypsilon was never really a Lancia its heritage goes back to the A112 and original Y10 both of which were Autobianchi models marketed by lancia and occasional rebadged as Lancia outside of Italy
