Title: Engine Dampers - Alternative parts Post by: MattNoVAT on September 10, 2012, 12:06:43 PM If you want to replace your failed engine dampers you can purchase from the following sites:
Cam Belt (R.H) side Engine Damper OE Part Number: 82323829 http://faparkes.epicoriscala.com/Default.aspx (http://faparkes.epicoriscala.com/Default.aspx) FA Parkes Stock Code: 42787 Supplier stock code is: 2611YY Use the Search facility and use the Supplier (Stabilus) Stock Code 2611YY as the criteria. Gearbox (L.H) side Engine Damper OE Part Number: 82323831 Use Ebay and search under item number: 250836085717 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MERCEDES-200-300-C-E-G300-DIESEL-ENGINE-BELT-DAMPER-/250836085717?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3a66feebd5&_uhb=1#ht_2130wt_922 (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MERCEDES-200-300-C-E-G300-DIESEL-ENGINE-BELT-DAMPER-/250836085717?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3a66feebd5&_uhb=1#ht_2130wt_922) The only modification you have to make is to drill out the damper mounting bushes from M8 to M10 - This can be done with a SHARP 10mm drill bit and a decent drill. Let the ally bush cool after 30 seconds of drilling and repeat until you have drilled right through the bush. Title: Engine Dampers - Alternative parts Post by: MattNoVAT on May 14, 2014, 05:41:00 AM Yes, I have these fitted to my S2/FL and have had no issues.
There were approximately 26 other forum members that used these when I did the "group buy" so maybe others who have fitted them can provide some feedback (if they have actually fit them that is) ;D Title: Re: Engine Dampers - Alternative parts Post by: KrissEB on May 14, 2014, 07:49:49 AM Thanks Matt - it's great news :D
Thaks for your stuborn and patience in research:) Title: Re: Engine Dampers - Alternative parts Post by: Neil-yaj396 on May 14, 2014, 08:52:00 PM Yes, I had the dampers fitted while the CV boots were being changed for the MOT. Both old dampers were seized solid. The new ones made a noticable difference to drivability. They had to be packed out with washers as the bushings are narrower that on the originals.
I had drilled them out as above, but it took ages with my DIY drill & admittedly cheap drill bits. |
