Title: Setting toe in to take it for alignment. Post by: dougdee123 on July 08, 2012, 11:50:38 AM I have been fighting with fitting a replacement rack and now want to set up the steering approximately before I take it to be aligned properly.
However I see from the Haynes Manual table of torques and settings that the toe in should be about 3.5mm. Does anyone know where this is measured? On the rim? On the disc? Some other place? The reason I ask is that I have a laser range finder (used for surveying) that is accurate to millimetres so I could measure if I can find out more detail of the datum. I've only even seen the rims of the alloys used for setting toe. When I did it last time I admit I did it mostly by eye and then drove the 5 - 6 miles to the nearest tyre fitting place who had all the right kit.... it didn't seem to harm the new boots.
