Title: Rear Spider seat belt anchorage points
Post by: mangocrazy on June 21, 2012, 04:58:11 PM
Due to the vagaries of the French MoT system, I need to fit rear seat belts to my Spider to get it through the test (see also parts wanted). However on further investigation, my Spider only has 3 anchorage points; two between the rear seats and on on the N/S inner wheel arch. There is no anchorage point on the O/S (i.e. driver's side) wheel arch. I can only assume mine was a Friday afternoon car...

How would one go about rectifying this? Get a suitable threaded insert and weld it in at the correct point? And what is the correct thread size and pitch for seat belt anchorages, anyway...?

Graham

Look on the Demon Tweeks web site for Seat Belt/ Harness Stress plates. These can be welded in from the wheel arch side. The threads are all the same and something weird like 7/16 UNF from memory.

Cheers Eric, that sounds like a plan. I also remember the thread size being something oddball (and non-metric).
