I recon manual TRW steering racks, but I swapped one out this weekend just past. When I get back from holiday I will be overhauling the exchange item and that will then be available. I would also advise checking the condition of the lower ball joints and the wishbone bushes as these can affect handling is they are worn. Unfortunately the news from the local steering specialist is not good, apparently the rack is too far gone to be reconditioned. When would that one of yours be available?

If you loop the hydraulic pipes to eachother it effectively becomes a manual rack, unsure if turn-to-turn is same but could be an option if you're desperate. Sorry my lack of knowledge must annoy you, it annoys me. Just for the record are the internal parts useable in a manual rebuild? Are the lock-to-locks the same? Sorry for barging in on the thread.... I'd be surprised if the ratio (lock to lock) is the same on both racks - power steering racks generally have a larger lock to lock number. Cheers Darren |
