Title: Fiat 132 2.0L Cams for 1600 Beta coupe? Post by: betasulo on April 02, 2011, 02:40:25 AM Hi All,
Is it possible to do the above and will it help?. Are the Fiat cams the same as on a 2.0L Beta? Sulo Title: Re: Fiat 132 2.0L Cams for 1600 Beta coupe? Post by: 75coupe on May 20, 2011, 11:29:54 PM Hi, the cams will fit no problem but they have different timing and lift to beta cams. Is your 1600 a 1585cc or an early 1592cc? The 2l fiat cams are also timed differently to beta 2l cams.
Beta cam timing: 2L: 13/45/49/9 With 9.9 mm. 9.4 mm lift on 1592cc. 1585cc: 17/37/48/6 with 9.4 mm lift Fiat 131 2L: 5/53/53/5 with 9.9 mm lift. Fiat 132 2L: 15/55/57/13 with 9.9 mm lift. There are different cam pulley markings/offsets too which is how the timing is altered on some models. Confused yet? Is there a specific reason you want to swap cams? Guy Croft is a very good source of info on camshafts and the twin cam engine. www.guycroft.com Regards Ian Title: Re: Fiat 132 2.0L Cams for 1600 Beta coupe? Post by: betasulo on May 25, 2011, 09:51:00 AM Hi Ian,
Thanks for all this info. The plan is to up the performance of my car which is at this time being restored. I hope to get twin Weber carbs and was told the Beta 2.0L cams are the way to go. I still have a good chance of getting 2.0L Fiat cams and was wondering if it would be the same as the Beta ones. I will also check which engine I have. Kind regards Sulo Title: Re: Fiat 132 2.0L Cams for 1600 Beta coupe? Head mods and increased compression are the way to go too. I run almost 11:1 CR on my 2 litre still using 98 octane pump fuel.
It may be worth finding a 2 litre motor if you want serious power - just remember you will get greater returns from this motor than the 1600 for the same money spent, and a 2 litre with twin carbs, compression and cams revs just as well as a mildy tweeked 1600 - my 2 litre revs to 7500 no problem! You can see what mods I have done in the tuning & competition section under 2L uprated engine build. |
